What is Edge Bonding and how does it work?

Edge Bonding as suggested in the name treats the
edges of the tooth.
Again a white filling substance is used to improve
jagged edges that have been caused due to erosion or
other damage. The finished result is smooth-edged
teeth.
this option will usually last 3-5 years depending on
your bite and how well it is cared for, before needing
further attention

Composite Veneers

What are Composite Veneers and how does it work?

Composite Veneers are where we directly build up the full outer
surface of the tooth and improve their appearance by changing
their colour, shape and size.
They are made from the same cosmetic white filling material used
in the other types of bonding. It is applied to the tooth freehand
by your cosmetic dentist, compared to porcelain veneers which
are made by the laboratory and then stuck onto the tooth.
This option will usually last 3-5 years depending on your bite and
how well it is cared for, before needing further attention

Pros & Cons

PROS

No drilling- usually doesn’t require drilling of the tooth
or removal of your original tooth surface.
No needles- this treatment process usually requires
no needles
Fast results- treatments can be completed in as little
as one appointment
Cost- composite bonding can be less expensive than
alternatives

CONS

As large amounts of your own tooth are not filed
away, composite bonding can be thin and therefore
may require more frequent maintenance or re-dos
compared to full crowns
Only lasts for 3-5 years- further attention/ treatment
will be needed outside of this timeframe
Further treatment required may be; re-polishing,
further building up to replace worn down bits,
complete replacement if worn down due to the bite
Is susceptible to staining- composite resin is more
porous than tooth enamel, therefore food is more
likely to cause staining however can be polished up
easily
